Try this before you toss your tulips thinking they’re dead!

• Remove any lower leaves so your stem has less to hydrate and can focus on the bloom
• Trim the ends
• Place your stems in fresh, cool water
• Choose a clean vase that will support their heavy blooms
• Give it a few hours!

Tulips are really amazing. We harvest them with the bulb on and store them in the cooler laying flat until we’re ready to use them. Then we snip the bulb off, and in about 4-5 days they fully open. By doing it this way, they last almost two weeks in the vase and you get to watch their entire life cycle.

This variety is called Queensland. It makes quite a dramatic transformation from harvest to full bloom.

Timelapse tulips!

Fun experiment - leave your tulips out of water overnight, then retrim their stems, place them back into water, and watch them through the day. They’ll move and bend and open. They’ll continue to stand up more and more straight as the days go on and also grow another 3-4” in the vase!

2025 Tulips have begun!
They’re coming on a little more slowly than past years - we have to imagine it’s from the colder winter we had.

I love tulip season - they’re the first to bloom, easing us back into the season. Allowing us to focus on one flower while we open the farm back up. Before we know it, we’ll have ranunculus and delphinium and will be fully immersed!
